Thoughtless Extravagance of a President

Just how extravagant is our President?

The President and her entourage spent $20,000 for their dinner at Le Cirque, a French restaurant in New York. That's approximately P1 million! And it was spent in a not-that-important dinner.

At Bobby Van’s Steakhouse in Washington, D.C., they paid $15,000. That's about P700,000!

So for a not-so important but lavish dinner she spent $20,000 and for another meal $15,000, while most Filipinos are hungry and have no food on their table.

After days of criticism, a legislator declare to be true that he is the one who financed the extravagant dinner. But I think nobody believed him.

But that is not the end of the line...

The President also spent P2.1 billion for the past 5 years in her trips abroad. Yes, billions are taken from the nation's coffers to sustain thoughtless extravagance of government officials. The amount could have been spent on creating jobs, education, health care, and other salient issues of our country.

Cory's Legacy

Early this morning I received this SMS from a friend. And I want to share it with you.

The only person in world history who became a President by fate and not by ambition...
The only speaker who has the longest standing ovation in US Congress...
The only woman who led her people to win a revolution with nothing but faith in God...

President Corazon 'Cory' Cojuangco Aquino

The mother of democracy.
The light of our nation.
And her legacy lives on forever.

To the powerful icon who shaped Philippine democracy,
To the pious woman who will be buried today,
May your soul rest in eternal peace.
